Dampp-Chaser Humidty Control System Sought for Sanctuary Piano
Last winter’s dry conditions challenged the stability and general condition of the sanctuary’s Steinway piano and harpsichord. Jeffrey Walker, the church’s piano technician, recommended the installation of a Dampp-Chaser humidity control system that can help protect the concert-quality instrument from the damaging effects of environmental change. The cost of the system and installation is estimated at $525. Will you make a financial offering to purchase – in part or in full – the Dampp-Chaser system? Please consider doing so. In addition to this solicitation, and to help finance the effort, there will also be a silent auction taking place December 1 to January 15 organized by Barb Stark. Music-related items, including antique organ pipes from the closed Saginaw Auditorium, will be available for auction. Do you have an auction-quality musical item or items that can be donated to the cause? Please contact Nicholas Schmelter or Barb Stark if you are able to be of assistance.
