Chancel Choir Mourns the Passing of Ruth Helen Enszer


Ruth Helen Enszer, longtime Chancel Choir member and Friend of Music, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital.  The daughter of the late Byrnolf and Helen (Raitinen) Kero, she was born May 5, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. Ruth was a graduate of Cody High School, Detroit, and received her BS in Nursing from the University of Michigan.   She married Robert M. Enszer on August 12, 1967.  

Her nursing career included employment at Wayne County Hospital, Detroit; Sparrow Hospital, Lansing; Sinai Hospital, Detroit; Saginaw General Hospital, Saginaw; and, St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, where she retired with over twenty-five years of service. She was active with the Tuesday Musicale that she served as president and past president.  She was currently program director.   She was a member of First Congregational Church.

 In addition to her husband, Robert, Ruth is survived by two daughters, Julie R. Enszer (spouse, Kim Sherrill), University Park, Maryland, and Greta Enszer, Santa Monica, California; two brothers, Melvin (spouse, Rita Kero), Willis, Michigan, and Dennis Kero, Pelkie, Michigan; her mother-in-law, Evelyn A. Enszer, Saginaw, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Chris Enszer, Saginaw, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Gerald Enszer (spouse, Sallie Enszer), Saginaw, Michigan; and, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lara.
