Organ Silenced As Maintenance Begins

On July 22, Blair Konn accompanied the “final service” on First Congregational Church’s pipe organ.  Repair and restorative work has commenced following the signing of the organ contract, which took place earlier in July.

Konn worked for two decades as a salesman, installation foreman, and serviceman for the Allen Organ Company following a twenty-year United States Air Force career.  While Konn served his country, he performed as a chapel organist on instruments varying from reed organs to three-manual pipe organs.

A member of the Saginaw Valley Chapter of American Guild of Organists, Blair serves on the Board of Trustees, and is active in the Chancel Choir and Chancel Bells.

Product Placement of a Strange Sort

Members of the First Congregational Church were surprised to spot soda and beer can capacitors in the rear of their malfunctioning organ console built in the 1970s.
