Easter Sunday Highlighted with First Performance of New Music
First Congregational Church will celebrate the first performance of two Easter hymn-based compositions arranged by Robert J. Powell on April 8, Easter Sunday. “The Day of Resurrection” and “Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain” were commissioned in 2011, and are scored for brass quintet, timpani, congregation, choir, and organ. The compositions are dedicated to Dr. Steven Egler, Artist in Residence of First Congregational Church, the congregation’s Chancel Choir, and the members of the Saginaw Brass Quintet.
